Abstract

592,295. Brakes. DAVIES, A. J. Sept. 28, 1945, No. 25309. [Class 103(i)] Safety-means for motor-vehicles comprise a bumper 1 which, on contact with an object, moves back rods 2 to actuate a lever 3 which releases a spring clip which normally holds a lever 4 and pivoted struts A in inoperative positions. The struts A thereupon drop down and raise the front wheels of the vehicle from the ground to clear the object. A rod projecting laterally from the lever 4 applies the brakes and puts the accelerator out of action to stop the engine. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 249,322, [Class 103 (i)], and 513,890.
