Abstract

370,746. Vehicle brakes. SOUSEDIK, J., Ivanovice na HanÚ, Czecho-Slovakia. June 22, 1931, No. 18039. [Class 103 (i).] An emergency brake for motor cars comprises on each side of the vehicle and in front of or between the wheels, a skid 4 rotatably mounted upon a shaft 2 and normally held in the raised position by the engagement of the end of a flat spring 5 with one of the supports 10 of the skid. Upon depressing a pedal the skid is disengaged from this spring by a striker 6 and is then rotated downwardly to the position shown by a spiral spring 7 on the shaft 2, to engage the track and lift the vehicle, the part 4<1> engaging a stop 9 on the chassis. The device may be arranged to stop forward or rearward motion.
