[Class 44] A flexible waterproof strip fastening comprises sealing strip members 1, 2, Fig. 3, of rubber or the like having interengaging profiled edges, sliding clasp fasteners 7 attached to either side of the sealing strips and a bridge piece 13 interconnecting the sliders 9, 10, the arrangement being such that simultaneous closing of the fastenings by the sliders presses the sealing strips together. The tapes 8 of the fasteners are bonded, vulcanized or attached by adhesive to the sealing strips. A tongue 6 on the strip 1 fits in a V-shaped groove 5 in the strip 2 and the edges are guided into correct engagement by a complementary tongue 16, and groove 15 formed in the section of the bridge piece 13. In the uppermost position of the slider the bridge piece is accommodated between recesses in the strips. To prevent tilting of the sliders, skid members 17, Fig. 4, project from either side to run on the lines of fastener elements. A plate 19 at the bottom of the bridge piece is recessed at 18 to guide the lower lines of elements and also to prevent tilting. To ensure that the sealing strips are pressed together at the upper end beyond the sliding clasp, rigid bars 25, Fig. 5, of 2 or other section are secured thereto, e.g. by rivets 26 and adapted to be drawn together by wedging engagement with a plate 27 having overturned edges 28 and secured to the slider. Instead of a flared entrance 29 to the plate 27 the wedging action may be obtained by setting the bars 25 at an angle. In another form the bars are drawn together by a separate plate member which is slid into position from the open end. Alternatively spring rods embedded in the rubber strips may, by their stiffness, be adapted to press the mating edges into contact. In the form of Fig. 11 the plates .38, 44, secured to the strips, are drawn together by a toggle mechanism 41, 42 also adapted to embrace and secure the slider.22.
