649,396. Mowing machines. BAMFORD, C. J., and BAMFORD, H. V. Aug. 5, 1948, No. 20660. [Class 6(iii)] A mowing machine of the kind having one or more trailing wheels and attached to the drawbar of a tractor is pivotally connected on a substantially horizontal axis longitudinal in relation to the tractor so that the machine is free to rock about this axis to avoid setting up stresses in the machine frame due to unevenness of the ground. From a bracket 10 on the tractor extend spaced lugs 11 supporting a pin 12 transverse to the direction of travel. A bracket 13 pivoted 'on the transverse pin carries a camplate 15 mounted to pivot about a vertical pin 14. Lugs 16 depending from the camplate and spaced longitudinally relative to the tractor form bearings for a shaft 17 parallel with the channelsection drawbar 18 of the mowing machine. Strengthening ribs 19 connect the lugs 16. Longitudinally spaced lugs 20 within the drawbar, channel support the ends of the shaft 17, which is located by a set screw. A spring-pressed plunger slidably mounted on the bracket 13 cooperates with the cam 15 as described in Specification 566,593.
