Abstract

647,816. Ventilators. NORVENT, Ltd. Sept. 14, 1948, No. 24069. [Class 137] A ventilator or air diffuser has a circular base plate 1 secured to the end of a trunk 9 and having a central hole 2, the periphery of the plate 1 being turned down through an angle of 50 degrees. A number of posts 4 are positioned around the plate 1, a diffuser plate 6, having its periphery 7 turned down through an angle of 30 degrees, being slidably mounted on the posts, sleeves 8 secured to plate 6 frictionally engaging the posts, so that the plate is held in any set position. With the plate 6 in its lowest position, air flowing through hole 2 is directed horizontally into the room, whilst with plate 6 in its uppermost position, the air is directed downwardly. In a modification (Figs. 2 and 3 not shown) the diffuser plate is mounted on a central rod and when fully raised shuts off the air supply completely.
