Abstract
646,716. Lamp-caps. SYLVANIA ELECTRIC PRODUCTS, Inc. Jan. 14, 1948, No. 22086/47. Convention date, Aug. 21, 1945. [Class 38 (i)] A tubular discharge lamp has the translucent end of its envelope through which the lead-in wires project surrounded by a translucent base from which the contact pins project, preferably the parts of the lead-in wires outside the envelope being covered with light-reflecting material. The cap of a lamp 1 having opposed translucent ends 4 comprises a translucent plastic body 2 recessed at 8 for the ends 4 and provided with lead-in wires 10 covered with light-reflecting material. The interior 9 of the cap is etched to diffuse the light; alternatively (Fig. 3, not shown), the interior is ribbed or grooved. A projection 15 on one end 4 permits the envelope to move about the axis of the cap which is provided with shoulders to limit the rotation.
