Abstract
643,988. Strip fasteners. MARTIN, W. F. Dec. 31, 1947, No. 32551/46. [Class 44] In a strip fastening of the kind comprising two continuous interengaging members, one having a beaded edge and the other a longitudinal groove adapted to receive the bead. with a slider which engages or d i s engages the members, the side portions of the groove of the one member consist of a pair of opposed flanges each having an inwardly directed rib, the bead being shaped to interlock with the flanges, and the slider is so constructed with parallel sides that when moved in either direction it locks or unlocks the members by a force exerted in the general plane of the members. The fastening comprises two continuous elongated strip members 10, 12, Figs. 5 and 6, comprising a channel and a bead respectively. The slider 50 is parallel sided and comprises a sheet metal blank bent to provide a pair of lateral curved arms 52, 54 to enclose the channel strip, with their end portions 56, 58 bent inwardly to lie over the base 18 thereof. The opposite end flat portions 60. 62 are bent to lie outside the ribs 24, 26 of the channel and form a re-entrant part 64, which deepens from one end of the slider to the other, so that at the deeper end, Fig. 5, it surrounds the bead.
