Abstract
640,389. Gas vaporizers. MINISTER OF SUPPLY. Sept. 17, 1947, No. 25357. [Class 8(ii)] An oxygen producing plant comprises an evaporator D having an inner liquid oxygen container 3 spaced from walls 2 and heated by air circulating through a coil 11; the resulting oxygen vapour is first passed in heat transfer relationship through a coil 31 with the evaporator-cooled air in a coil 24, and afterwards introduced by means of a duct 19 into the space 12 between the container 3 and the wall 2. In operation compressed air enters a drier 35 or 36 according to the setting of a valve 38, and is cooled in the coils 11, 24 and rectified in a column A. Liquid oxygen leaves the column A by a duct 33 and is run into the container 33 on opening a valve 27 and removing a stopper from the container inlet 6. Oxygen vaporized in the container 3 traverses the inlet 6, a duct 1, a valve 32 and ducts 31, 19 to reach the evaporator space 12, after which the vapour traverses ducts 10, 30 to a service outlet 20. The coil 11 is of copper and the wall 2 of copper covered steel.
