Abstract
607,458. Fire extinguishers. TRIGGS, W. W. (Specialties Development Corporation). Feb. 5, 1946, No. 3591. [Class 47 (ii)] [Also in Group XXVIII] Liquid carbon dioxide stored at sub-atmospheric temperatures is ejected from its container as snow by the pressure of a mixture of nitrogen, air or other substantially inert gas and carbon dioxide. The liquid carbon dioxide is stored in a container 10 and cooling coils 11 from a refrigerator 12 keep the liquid and vapour at a constant low temperature by means of a thermostat 13. An outlet conduit 14 from the bottom of the container 10 leads to the discharge system. The nitrogen &c. is introduced into the vapour space V of the container 10 from a cylinder 25, either manually or by an automatic pressure-operable valve.
