Abstract

639,573. Load-carrying pallets. M. G. K. ENGINEERING CO., Ltd., and KETELBEY, F. G. June 23, 1947, No. 16477. [Class 78 (iv)] In a pallet provided with legs which are adjustable in length, the upper end of each leg is formed to receive the lower end of the leg of a pallet disposed immediately above it, whereby a number of pallets may be superposed with their load-supporting platforms in spaced relation so that the goods on each pallet are not required to bear the weight of the goods and pallets above them. In the embodiment shown, the pallet, built up of channel members 10, 11 secured in spaced relationship by members 12, 13, is provided with four legs each comprising an upper member 14 in which is slidably mounted a member 17 of solid or tubular construction. The latter is adjustably secured by a locking pin 21 on a chain 20 secured to the member 14, which engages in holes 19 in the members 14,17. A disc 16 fixed in the member 14 supports the lower end of the member 17 of the pallet next above.
