Abstract

In the manufacture of cement, basic or acidic blast furnace slag, previously dried and finely ground is introduced directly into the combustion zone of the rotary kiln. In order to counteract the increased acidity imparted by the slag, increased amounts of limestone are added through the normal channels, the slag being introduced separately or in admixture with the fuel. Specification 639,240 is referred to.
