Abstract

In a process for burning cement, limestone, &c., in shaft kilns, the formation of a compact, sintered clinker is avoided by mixing the material with fuel having a grain size of less than 1 mm., and forming the mixture into granules or briquettes. A shell of fuel free raw material is applied around the granules as in Specification 768,294, and the treated material is discharged by a rotary grate which tends to break up the clinker, and which allows of uniform air distribution (see Group XII).ALSO:In a process for burning cement, lime &c. in shaft kilns, the formation of a compact, sintered clinker is avoided by mixing the material with fuel having a grain size less than 1 mm., and forming the mixture into granules or briquettes.
