Abstract
637,331. Reservoir pens. HAMEL, W. W. Oct. 1, 1947, Nos. 26495 and 29698. [Class 146 (iii)] A reservoir pen comprises a tube 10 containing viscous ink, a ballpoint section 11 press-fitted into one end of the tube and a breather plug 12 press-fitted into the other end. In a modification, point sections are fitted at both ends of the tube which is divided centrally by a partition into two compartments containing differently-coloured inks each compartment being vented by a breather plug press-fitted into a radial hole in the tube adjacent to the partition. The tube may be made of plastic or compressed wood, and may have a lining of inkresisting material such as glass. It may be hexagonal in section. The ink is introduced into the tube under pressure while warmed after the section 11 has been fitted. The plug 12 is then inserted and the. pen placed on a rotating table with the point facing away from the centre so that centrifugal force causes air bubbles to be expelled through the point.
