Abstract

636,329. Refrigerators. VERRECCHIA, M. Jan. 22, 1947, No. 1992. [Class 29] A cooling or freezing apparatus comprises a cylindrical, slightly tapered container 11 and a double walled, insulated rectangular outer chamber 7 having receptacles 8 spaced round its inner wall near the top to receive blocks of solid carbon dioxide which are retained by gratings 8a. The refrigerant gas escaping from receptacles 8 flows down between the container and the outer chamber and circulates under the container through holes 17 in a projecting rim 15 forming an extension of the container 11. A closure 19 which may be insulated or evacuated is provided and may have a receptacle for solid carbon dioxide on the underside thereof. The receptacles may be located at different depths in the wall.
