Abstract

[Class 28(ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A block of solid carbon dioxide 1 is progressively disintegrated into small particles by a grater 3 turned by a handle 4 to accelerate sublimation and cool the container 2 or a current of air passed through it. The air together with particles of solid carbon dioxide issues through an opening 5 to the chamber being cooled or to a system of pipes &c.
