632,931. Uniting by fusion. PHILIPS LAMPS, Ltd. July 18, 1946, No. 21533. Convention date, April 23, 1942. [Class 83 (iv)] A sulphur-sensitive coated welding rod has a core made of iron containing less than 0.03 per cent sulphur and in which segregation has been prevented. The segregation may be prevented by the addition of aluminium or silicon to the liquid iron or by agitation of the solidifying melt. In welding workpieces of high sulphur content it is desirable that the sulphur content of the core should not exceed 0.015 per cent. The sulphur content of the coating should not exceed 0.030 per cent.
