Abstract

632,124. Two-part couplings. DAWE INSTRUMENTS, Ltd., DAWE, F. W., and OSBORNE, F. A. T. Jan. 28, 1948, No. 2587. [Class 38 (i)] A shuttered socket comprises a socket member 1 having socket contacts 3 and secured by bolts 6 to an apertured face plate 5, a shutter plate 10 being rotatably mounted between the socket member and the face plate. The shutter is spring-urged to a position wherein apertures 11 therein are out of register with the sockets 3 said position being located by a projection on the shutter engaging a bush 8 on one of the fixing bolts. A plug is inserted in the socket by inserting its pins in the apertures 11, rotating the shutter against the spring, using the plug as a key, to a further position located by another projection on the shutter engaging the bush 8, in which position the apertures 11 register with the sockets 3 so that the plug may be completely inserted.
