[Class 83 (iii)] The feed limiting mechanism of the parent Specification is modified in that a second control drum is provided which rotates at a slower speed than the first control drum and cooperates therewith to enable a longer traverse to be obtained without re-setting the mechanism. A stop drum 60 with a number of discs 31 having stop projections 32 are set in their required positions by a clamping nut 33. Levers 68 with stop-ends 48 are held away from the stops by first and second control drums 61, 62, respectively, on which projections 47 on the levers bear. These control drums consist of discs similar to the stop drum, but having recesses 42 and 63, respectively, in the discs. The control drums are driven by reduction gearing from the stop drum. When recesses in the two control drums come together into the position shown in Fig. 1, the appropriate lever falls and engages a corresponding stop on the stop drum to halt the carriage feed. Vernier discs are provided on the drum shafts to indicate the positions at which the carriage will stop. A latch member 71 may be turned by hand to render selected levers inoperative, or this member may be connected to rotate with a turret head when the invention is applied to a turret lathe.
