370,448. Lever linkages; controlling reversing-gearing. SCHIESS-DEFRIES AKT.-GES., 114, K÷lnerstrasse, Diisseldorf, Germany. Jan. 7, 1931, No. 636. Convention date, Feb. 27, 1930. [Classes 80 (ii) and 80 (iii).] In a control device for the reversing-gear of a tool-slide traversing mechanism in a machine tool, a hand-lever 5 is pivoted at 4 within an axial slot 6 in a spindle 2 and carries a square block 7 movable along a. slot 3a in a yoke 3 which is secured to the two coaxial parts of a spindle 1 at right-angles to the spindle 2. The spindles 1, 2 may be in the same or in different planes. Levers 8, 9 fast on the spindles 2, 1, respectively, are connected to the reversing gears for the two perpendicular traversing mechanisms of the tool-slide, so that oscillation of the lever 5 about the spindles 1 or 2 will cause the slide to be fed in the same direction. Compound feed may be given to the slide by oscillating the lever 5 about both spindles simultaneously.
