Abstract

628,507. Ships' davits. TAYLOR, H. G. May 2, 1947, No. 11806. [Class 115] A ship's davit, in which each arm has an outwardly-extending foot B provided at or near its ends with rollers C, C<SP>1</SP> engaging a track or pair of tracks D which are directed downwardly at their outer ends d<SP>1</SP>, d<SP>2</SP> to swing the davit arm A outwards, is moved to its outboard and inboard positions by an horizontal screw-device G anchored to the ship E at one end and to the foot B of the davit arm A at the other. The track consists of two channel-section tracks D with their open sides facing inwardly, the rear end of the foot being guided along a horizontal portion d of the track. The screw device G is located between the tracks D with its inner end mounted on trunnions which support a rotatable sheath internally screwed to engage a non- rotatable screwed rod similarly mounted on rollers C<SP>1</SP> at the rear of the foot.
