Abstract

627,100. Connecting pipes to valves. ROLLINGS, R. E., and BELL, F. A. March 14, 1947, No. 7184. [Class 99(i)] For connecting a flexible pipe to a plug cock a spigot member 37 is adapted to fit the bore 24 of the plug and has lugs 38 adapted to pass through an opening 28 in a cock-body closure-plate 26 and to engage a diametrical slot 25 in the plug. The lugs engage behind the closure plate, when the plug is rotated by the spigot to the open position. The lugs press back a washer 31, slidably and non-rotatably mounted on the plug, against the action of a spring 33 which ejects the spigot when the cock is closed. Limit stops, formed by a recess 34 in the cock body, are engaged by a lug, (not shown), on the washer 31. A sealing ring 43 is carried in a groove in the spigot. A fixing plate 44 may be secured at the back or the front of the cock body.
