627,014. Machines with permanent magnets. BIRMINGHAM SMALL ARMS CO., Ltd., and GOLDSCHMIDT, R. Nov. 10, 1945, No. 30092. [Class 35] A generator stator comprises an axially magnetized cylindrical permanent magnet coaxial with a coil and with pole-pieces disposed on either side of the coil and co-operating with an inductor rotor. In the form shown, the armature coil 25 of a generator mounted in a cycle hub is disposed between skewed imbricated ,pole-pieces 15, 19, connected to one end of the axially magnetized magnets 1 so that the flux circuit from the magnet through the uninterrupted annular pole-piece 9 and the rollers 27 is alternately through core members 17 and 11 and links the coil only in the first of these alternatives. The pole-piece 9 may be replaced by two members carrying a second set of imbricated pole-pieces with a second coil. The permanent magnet may have a copper sheath 5.
