Abstract
625,624. Sidecar suspension. SWALLOW COACHBUILDING CO. (1935), Ltd., and POWELL, N. N. July 30, 1947, No. 20536. Class 108 (ii)] The body of a sidecar is mounted on the chassis by an upwardly-directed parallel link system, all or certain of the fulcra or pivot points of which, incorporate bonded rubber unions. A front pair of laterally-spaced links a are pivoted at c<SP>1</SP> to the chassis frame c and at d<SP>1</SP> to the body d through the medium of bondedrubber unions in each case. A rear pair of laterally-spaced links b are similarly connected between the frame c and body d. The bondedrubber unions at the lower end of the links b may be capable of rotary adjustment either relative to the links, or to the frame, in order to vary the inclination of the links. The body is reinforced by a channel-member d<SP>3</SP> which extends between pairs of angle plates d<SP>2</SP> which carry the respective unions at d<SP>1</SP>. A similar channel-member d<SP>4</SP> is employed for the mounting of the rear links.
