Abstract

624,209. Chucks. C.V.A. JIGS, MOULDS & TOOLS, Ltd., and TAUSSIG, R. June 12, 1947, No. 15568. [Class 83 (iii)] In a bevel-closing chuck, the inner end face of each jaw 18 is formed with a recess 21 in which is located part of a ring 22 of elastic material. The ring 22 is either forced into the recesses or bonded therein. The jaws 18 are moved inwardly by rotating the chuck body relatively to a screwed spindle 14 which engages a back-plate 16. In a modification, the recess in the end face of each jaw extends to the outer circumferential edge of the jaw and the elastic material in addition to extending through all the recesses also projects between and contacts with the side faces of the jaws and also projects radially outwards from the recesses.
