Abstract

959,175. Chucks. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. May 14, 1963 [May 15, 1962], No. 18988/63. Heading B3B. [Also in Division B4] A chuck comprises a body 10, Fig. 1, having three bores 11, clamping jaws 12 in the bores having teeth 13 engageable with a geared rim 15 connected to a sleeve 14, and a rubber or like ring 17 fitted in a recess 16. Bores 11 are offset from each by 120 degrees, and as rim 5 is rotated by a spanner which engages a bore 19 and teeth 20, the drill 18 can be clamped and ring 17 deformed, thus preventing accidental slackening of sleeve 14 by friction. In a modification, Fig. 2, ring 17 is replaced by a semicircular disc 23, to provide the frictional resistance between sleeve 14 and body 10.
