Abstract

624,150. Windscreen cleaners. TRICO PRODUCTS CORPORATION. June 17, 1947, No. 15983. Convention date, June 24, 1946. [Class 138(i)] In a windscreen wiper where relative angular displacement between the wiper blade and actuating arm enables the blade to lie along the edge of the windscreen in the parked position, the blade is urged towards a centralized position by leaf springs arranged on opposite sides of the blade, the springs having parts co-operating with the actuating arm whereby they are prevented from urging the blade beyond its central position. As shown, a hook-shaped fin 4, pivotally mounted at the apex of a triangular opening 5 in a wiper actuating arm 2, supports a wiper blade 3. Angular displacement between the blade and arm is limited by stop flanges 8. Spring leaves 10, fitted to each of the stop flanges by rivets 9, bear against or lie adjacent to opposite sides of the wiper blade and provide a restoring force for aligning the blade and arm. Extension ears 11 of the spring leaves, bearing against the outer side faces of the actuating arm, prevent either spring from tending to urge the blade beyond its central position.
