689,753. Windscreen. cleaners. LUCAS, Ltd., J. Oct. 4, 1951 [Oct. 5, 1950], No. 24317/50. Class 138 (i). A means for pivotally interconnecting a windscreen wiper arm and its actuating spindler comprises the combination of a boss ,a secured, or adapted to be secured to the spindle c, an arm part d, and a spring e which is anchored at one to the arm part and pivotally attached at its other end to the boss, the boss having formed thereon a cam - like protuberance or nose piece g adapted to co-operate with a curved surface on the inner side of the arm.part. The boss a is secured to the driving spindle c by a collet b or other means. The spring e is made folding a stiff steel wire to form a pair of side members. Inturned ends of the side member pivotally engage in the opposite ends of a hole in the boss The other end of the spring is secured to the arm part d by a clamp f and screw j -which also serves to adjustably secure an extension arm i carrying a wiper blade h. The arm d can pivot about the nose-piece g in a direction at right angles to the windscreen in order, to maintain the blade in contact therewith. When the wiper is oscillated the spring acts as rigid connection between the boss end arm part d. The spring may be in the form of a metal blade instead of as shown.
