Abstract
622,979. Feeding articles to centreless grinding machines. SCRIVENER, Ltd., A., and SCRIVENER, A. March 1, 1947, No. 5903. [Class 117] An electromagnetic feed device for feeding workpieces, e.g. bolts b, one at a time to a centreless grinding machine is adapted to pick up a bolt from the feed chute a, feed it to the nip of the grinding roll c and the co-operating control roll, release the bolt in the nip and then return to pick up another bolt. An electromagnet d is carried at one end of an arm e adapted for reciprocal arcuate motion by means of a rack bar j and pinion mechanism k in synchronism with the operations of the grinding machine. Alternating current is supplied to the magnet to effect in sequence an alternate energization and deenergization at predetermined periods in its arc of motion to effect the pick-up and release of the bolts.
