Abstract
620,828. Keying carrier frequencies. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Jan. 28, 1947, No. 2601. Convention date, April 11, 1945. [Class 40 (v)] In a radio transmitter of the kind employing a keying-valve V2 connected in series with a carrier amplifier valve V1, the screen-grid and suppressor-grid of the valve V2 are supplied by means of the potentiometer P with the same D.C. voltage as the anode during the marking intervals. During spacing-intervals, the valve V2 is blocked by negative voltage applied at B to its control grid, and the fall in screen current applies a positive voltage to the grid of a valve V3 which thus forms a low-resistance shunt across the anode circuit of the carrier amplifier V1 and prevents or reduces the passing on of carrier excitation to the subsequent stages C. During marking intervals, the valve V3 is blocked by its grid being biassed negatively relatively to its cathode. Two valves of lower power, connected in parallel, may replace the valve V2.
