619,808. Vehicle supports. BROWN TRACTORS, Ltd., D., and ASHFIELD, H. E. Dec. 28, 1946, No. 37957. [Class 79 (iii)] An arrangement enabling either front wheel of a vehicle, e.g. a tractor, to be lifted from the ground comprises a front axle mounted so that it can pivot about the longitudinal centre line of the vehicle and means whereby the distance between either end of the axle and the respective side member of the chassis frame can be varied at will. In Fig. 2, the front axle a is pivoted at c to the tractor frame whose side members b are each threaded to receive a bolt d or e. On rotating one bolt, e.g. by a detachable ratchet lever f, the axle is caused to pivot about c as shown, whereby one wheel is raised from the ground. Instead of bolts d or e, a plunger g, Fig. 3, actuated by cam h and hand lever j may be employed. Alternatively, the axle may be connected by a connecting link to a hand lever pivoted on the chassis frame, so that vertical movements of the hand lever rotate the axle, the hand lever being retained in the desired position by passing a pin through the lever and a fixed quadrant suitably perforated.
