Abstract

619,305. Lamp-holders. C.A.V., Ltd., and CURZON, T. Dec. 2, 1946, No. 35618. [Class 38 (i)] A holder for a double-ended tubular lamp comprises a rectangular insulating block 1 having a rounded top 2, on the end face 3 of which are formed a pair of parallel slots 4 open towards the top 2. Spring-loaded contacts 6 are located in bores 5 communicating with the lower ends of the slots 4, the pins 18 of a lamp being retained in said slots in engagement with said contacts by means of a semicircular metal cover 11 pivoted at 12 to the block and embracing one side of the lamp cap 13. The cover is locked in the lamp-retaining position by the snap engagement of depressions 17 therein with the heads of rivets or the like driven into the block. An earthing strap 16 extending over the block, contacts the cover and is secured at one end to a fixing screw 14 for said block.
