618,891. Building motions for flyer or speed frames. SIO, J. S. Aug. 1, 1946, No. 22947. [Class 120(ii)] The rack pinions which impart the reciprocating motion to the racks of the bobbin rail of a flyer or speed frame are driven from a shaft 7 which carries two loosely rotatable gear wheels 6, 6<SP>1</SP> adapted to be brought alternatively into driving connection with shaft 7 by means of a double dog clutch which is actuated by reversing mechansim forming part of the building motion, wheels 6, 6' being rotated in opposite directions from a drive shaft 4 rotating continuously in the same direction, the arrangement being such that the direction of rotation of shaft 7 is reversed at the end of each upward and downward movement of the bobbin rail. Wheel 6 is driven from gear 5, and wheel 6<SP>1</SP> from gear 5' through an intermediate pinion 8. A clutch sleeve 9 is moved to engage clutch teeth on wheel 6 or 6' by a fork pivoted at 13 and actuated by a shifting member 11 operated by the building motion of the machine.
