Abstract

616,175. Preparing fibres for spinning. BRITISH COTTON INDUSTRY RESEARCH ASSOCIATION, and OWEN, T. W. May 13, 1946, No. 14330 [Cluss 120(i)] In a machine for opening and cleaning fibrous materials of the type comprising an apertured partition dividing the casing into a beating compartment and a hopper 1, a feed lattice 3, an evener roller 4 and a rotary stripper 5, the latter consists of a rotary surtion cage having stripping members 5<SP>1</SP> on its periphery whereby dust liberated by the action of roller 4 and stripper 5 is removed. As shown, members 5<SP>1</SP> consist of leather flaps and dust is extracted through the portion 5<SP>3</SP> of the cage. A known type of suction duct 6 may also be provided. The beating compartment, to which material passed over the top of lattice 3 proceeds, is as described and claimed in Specification 616,244.
