615,820. Knitting - needles. LALANNE, E., and GRANDJEAN, P. Aug. 12, 1946, No. 23793. Convention date, June 28, 1945. [Class 74(ii)] [Also in Group VII] A knitting-needle for producing fabrics comprises a flattened tubular shank, one end of which is cut and closed to form a hook 11. A cam 10 is pivoted in the vicinity of the hook in the cut-away portion of the shank. A loop of thread 3 is taken by the hook 11 and the thread pivots the cam 10 causing a surface 15 of the cam 10 to emerge from the shank to cover the hook, permitting a second thread 4 to slip over the hook to form a loop. The cam 10 is prevented from touching the hook point by the abutment of its heel 16 against the shank in one direction, and by the abutment of its side adjacent the surface 15 against the shank in the other direction.
