Abstract
615,596. Stud - and - socket fastenings. UNITED - CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Sept. 26, 1946, No. 28770. Convention date, Sept. 27, 1945. [Class 44] In a stud-and-socket fastening of the kind comprising a rotatable stud with a radial arm or arms, the plate through which the stud passes is formed with an aperture of substantially the same diameter as the stud shank and with a radial elongation to permit passage of the arm or arms, and resilient retainer means are provided for preventing accidental removal of the stud from the plate. With a stud of usual type, the aperture in the plate 10, Figs. 3, 4, has a radial extension 14 long enough to permit the stud to be passed through by tilting. The stud is retained by a spring clip 15, e.g. of triangular form shown. Alternatively, a spring washer 16, Fig. 8, may be used, having a central aperture, radial extensions 18 to pass over the stud arms, and spring fingers 19 to prevent accidental removal. A split washer 20, Fig. 10, may be used or a similarly shaped washer of dished form to conform to the usual dished form of the edge of the aperture in the plate 10.
