Abstract
615,049. Wringers. DAY, A. Aug. 20, 1946, No. 24740. [Class, 138(ii)] The upper roller of a wringing or mangling machine is carried at each end by a vertical slotted lever 3, the lower end of which is adapted to slide in a bearing 4 on the machine frame under spring pressure; the top face of the bearing is adapted to act as a stop for the slotted lever so as to prevent any pressure between the rollers when they are not in use. Each lever 3 is slotted as shown at 5 so as to slide over either a collar 6 on the shaft of the lower roller or an extension of the bearings of such roller, and is provided with a depending rod adapted to slide in the bearing 4. When the machine is not working, the rollers are slightly separated, but when clothes are passed between the rollers the springs, which may be of compression or tension type, act on the levers so as to cause the necessary pressure to be exerted.
