Abstract

614,272. Mattresses and the like. GODFREY, H. F. July 9, 1946, No. 20455. [Class 52 (iv)] A furniture spring unit comprises a number of spring metal laths 1, arranged side by side, and tensioned between end supporting members 2, each lath being provided at spaced intervals with downwardly directed folds 3 and resiliently supported intermediate one or more pairs of said folds. As shown the resilient support comprises a curved spring strip 5 bearing upon, or secured to, a rigid base such as a wire 4. The strip 5 mav also be secured to the lath and may have a corrugation 6 to embrace the wire 4. In a modification the folds 3 may be extended and attached to the resilient strip 5 at the positions where the latter bears upon or is secured to the support wire 4. In a further modification the resilient strip 5 may be replaced by helical springs.
