[Class 52 (iv).] A mattress surface is in a plurality of sections p, q, r each consisting of a frame hinged to the side bars h of the mattress so that it can be turned into an accessible position for cleaning. The head section is inclined and consists of laths slidably mounted on pegs encircled by compression springs d. The laths in the central and foot sections are rigidly secured to their frames, but the frame of the central section is spring mounted at one end.
