Abstract
613,242. Pillion seats; luggage carriers. BURRI, F. June 12, 1946, No. 17616. Convention date, Nov. 27, 1944. [Class 136 (i)] In a luggage carrier of the kind having a clamping stirrup mounted on a slide adjustably fixed to the carrier frame so that its height can be varied in accordance with the size of the article to be held, the slide is mounted on the frame to pivot about a horizontal axis. The spring-loaded clamp b, Figs. 2 and 3, is pivoted on a rod connecting the upper ends of vertical rods c which pass through, and can be held in any position in, tubular members e, pivotally mounted on the carrier frame a in eyes g, and engaging in their vertical position a stop r, the arrangement being such that rods c may be locked against vertical movement by members u while remaining free to pivot in the eyes g. In a modification, the carrier may be used as a child's seat, rods c and clamp b being used as the back rest.
