Abstract

495,356. Saddle supports. GOW, T. H. March 19, 1938, No. 36049/37. [Class 136(iii)] The invention relates to saddle supports for cycles, of the type wherein the saddle is adapted to be lowered by the weight of the rider when the support is released by means of a Bowden &c. control, and wherein the shank 16 of the saddle pillar slides in a tubular member 18 adjustably mounted in the cycle frame, and a depending guide rod 17 engages the lower end 19 of the tubular member 18, one or more compression springs 25, 26 being provided to raise the shank 16 when the saddle is relieved of the weight of the rider. According to the invention, the guide rod 17 and the aperture in the end 19 of the tubular member through which it slides are of square or other cross-section which prevents angular movement of the saddle pillar.
