Abstract
612,566. Windows. CRITTALL MANUFACTURING CO., Ltd., and WALKER, F. P. May 27, 1946, No. 16065. [Class 20(iii)] In a double hung sash window, the sashes 7, 8 are located at each side in grooves or recesses in a strip 4 extending continuously from top to bottom of the window opening, and the head 1 and sill 2, Fig. 2, slope upwardly and inwardly parallel to each other, so that the sashes may be assembled in the strips 4 and the strips and sashes as a unit assembled intc the outer frame. Ir the metal window shown, the sashes are positioned in grooves in the strip 4, Fig. 1, by spring- pressed balls 10, and carry brackets 70, 8C for coupling them tc the bushings of spring balances Weather strips (not shown) may be fitted in the grooves, anc resilient stops 9, Fig. 2, at top and bottom. In a modification, one of the outer flanges 14 of the strip 4 may be replaced by part of the jamb section 3. The jambs 3 may be provided with prongs or tenons which are fixed in accurately punched slots in the head and sill. Specification 320,040, [Class 20(iii)], is referred to.
