612,117. Valve amplifying circuits. PHILCO RADIO & TELEVISION CORPORATION. Nov. 13, 1945, No. 30387. Convention date; Sept. 1, 1944. [Class 40 (vi)] A D.C. amplifier is associated with means for maintaining an output during short periods when a sporadic signal is absent. Pulse radar signals are applied to detector circuit 10 and the time constant of elements 14, 15 is considerably longer than the interval between pulses so that the input to amplifier 16 is substantially a direct voltage with amplitude depending on the amplitude of the pulses. During the incidence of a normal signal, diode 21 conducts to short-circuit high resistance 19 and produce a relatively short time constant charging path for capacitor 22. If the input pulses fade, the anode voltage of valve 16 rises to cut off diode 21. Capacitor 22 is now in a long time constant circuit and maintains the grid voltage of output cathode follower 20 constant during the fading period, at a level determined by potentiometer 26.
