Abstract

802,604. Television. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Dec. 3, 1956 [Dec. 6, 1955], No. 36871/56. Class 40 (3). Incorrect amplification of the D.C. component of a television signal 1 by a video amplifier 6 due to the automatic biasing circuit RK, CK having a time constant which is large compared with the duration of a single line scan is compensated by peak detecting a suitable fraction of the output signal 10 by means of a diode 14 and supplying the detected voltage to develop a correcting bias across the network Rd, Cd in the control grid circuit the time constant of this network being large compared with the duration of a single line scan but not greater than that of network RK, CK and the time constant of the network R,. C supplying diode 114 being equal to that of network RK, CK. If the signal 1 already contains the D.C. component it may be supplied directly to the grid of valve 6, condenser 4 and diode 8 being omitted.
