Abstract

611,568. Pulse modulation. STANDARD TELEPHONES & .CABLES, Ltd. May 2, 1946, No. 13359. Convention date, May 19, 1944. [Class 40 (v)] In a cusper circuit for. producing timemodulated pulses in which the base wave oscillator 3 and push-pull cusper valves 13, 14 are all supplied from a source 1 of unregulated voltage, the cusper unbalancing means are arranged so as to compensate for fluctuations in the voltage source and to maintain the unmodulated wave cusp timing invariable. As shown, the unequal cathode biasses of triodes 13, 14 are produced by the potential drop across cathode resistors 22, 20 in the former case and resistor 20 alone in the latter case, the anode voltages and the resistors being so proportioned that, with varying anode voltages, the respective grid biasses remain equally spaced about the anode current cut-off value. Modulation is produced by push-pull audio-frequency potentials applied to grids 11, 12 from microphone 18 and transformer 17. In a modification, the resistors 22, 20 form part of a potential divider across the unregulated source, Fig. 3 (not shown). Specification 586,098 is referred to.
