Abstract
582,146. valve generating circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES, Ltd. Feb. 4, 1944, No. 2135. Convention date, Nov. 30, 1942. [Class 40 (v)] In a circuit for producing bursts of oscillations 54, a resonant circuit 40 couples the anode and control grid circuits of a pentode 30, the suppressor grid being biassed to cut off the anode current. A rectangular pulse from the generator 10 raises the potential of the suppressor grid enabling the valve to oscillate, the coupling between the anode and grid circuits and/or the gain of the valve being adjusted to maintain the amplitude of the oscillations substantially constant. A positive synchronising pulse applied to the grid of gas-filled valve 14, fires it, forming a pulse 12 on the cathode, which raises the potential of the suppressor grid. The oscillations 54 may be used for calibrating an oscillograph, and may be squared and differentiated and applied directly or passed through an over-biassed amplifier to give pulses of one sign.
