Abstract
611,497. Two-part couplings. ARNOLD, C. L., DOWSETT, R. W., and M.K. ELECTRIC, Ltd. May 2, 1946, No. 13370. [Class 38 (i)] Socket contacts for receiving rectangular pins comprise two opposed flat jaws, at least one of which carries a resilient tongue, and a rigid frame defining a rectangular mouth for the socket. In Fig. 2, two flat strips 1, 2, bent to an L-shape and riveted to the terminal bush 11 form the socket jaws. An apertured extension 7 of strip 1 is bent down parallel with the base and receives within its opening the extreme tip 8 of the shorter jaw. A resilient tongue 9 is formed by slitting the jaw 5. In a further embodiment, Fig. 4, a strip 1a, apertured at 7 and carrying a resilient tongue 9 is secured at both ends by swaging over short collars 12 formed on the ends of the terminal block 11. In a still further embodiment, Fig. 10, the two jaws, the contact entry aperture and the resilient tongue 9 are all formed from one bent strip 2b which is secured with a base strip 1b by riveting to the terminal block 11. A third strip 16 may also be fitted carrying an indentation 17 which projects through an aperture in one jaw. The other jaw 5 is inclined inwards towards its lower end, whilst its resilient movement is limited by a stop 15. In a further embodiment, not shown, this stop 15 is replaced by a slot in the base strip through which projects an extension of jaw 5. Specifications 402,474 and 420,700 are referred to.
