Abstract

609,866. Windows. CURTIS COS., INC. March 19, 1946, No. 8503. Convention date, June 22, 1945. [Class 20(iii)] Vertically sliding window sashes are supported by coil springs for movement in each side of the joint of the frame, a floating friction bar accommodated in a channel at each side being biased against grooves in the sashes. A pair of vertically sliding sashes L, U, which are hung by coil springs 14, 14a, co-operate with a friction bar B by the engagement of rounded beads 22 on each of the members 21 of the bar with grooves 17, 18 in the sashes, to provide a weather strip seal and adequate friction in all positions of the sashes. The bar members 21 are connected by a resilient metal strip A comprising channels 22a which embrace the members, and a central part 22c forming a parting strip. The bar is biased towards the sashes by a double Z-shaped member 24 accompanied in a channel 23 in the jamb.
