[Class 42(i)] In a mechanical beating machine for imparting a desired appearance or texture to a fabric, the fabric is led over driven rollers a, b covered with card clothing, plush, felt or other material capable of driving or retaining the fabric by mere contact, and is acted upon by a rotary beating member c, having a number of longitudinal projections d. The latter may be integral with the cylinder c, or may be secured thereto. and they may be parallel with the axis g, or be helical or of other shape. The speeds of the roller and of the beater may be adjustable relatively to each other, and those of the rollers may be different
