Abstract
423,607. Stretching webs transversely. RILEY, T. W., Globe Machine Works, Nile Street, Rochdale. Aug. 21, 1933, No. 23215. [Class 100 (i)] Means for straightening out the selvedges of fabrics led to cloth raising machines comprises a positively driven scrimp roller and one or more rollers or bars adjustable about the axis of the scrimp roller for varying the lap of the fabric about the latter. The fabric F passes round a guide roller d<2> and scrimp roller c and thence to the raising machine R. The roller c is fixed to a shaft b driven by a belt b<2> from the shaft b<4> and the roller d<2> is carried by arms d adjustable about the arms of the shaft b to vary the lap of the fabric about the roller c. If a number of narrow webs are being fed side by side, a corresponding number of scrimp rollers are fixed to the shaft b.
