Abstract

604,601. Non - metallic containers. STUART, K. Aug. 24, 1945, No. 21743. [Class 66] A tubular bodied container of paper &c., Fig. 2, has a C-shaped metal reinforcing bead 12, around at least one end, and a number of end-tabs 20, 22, 24 which are bent inwardly of the bead so as to support, on their inner faces, a number of flat paper &c. closure-pieces 50, 52 secured thereto as by adhesives. The container may be made from a single blank the tabs being integral therewith or formed on a separate paper &c. strip, and the bead 12 may be made from a metal strip. The ends of the bead may be joined by a pin 92, Fig. 9, with or without a central flange 94 which may be welded to the ends of the bead. The closure-pieces may overlap and be stuck together or the joint between them may be covered with adhesive which may extend over the tabs.
